Mabel Tam
she/her
Tam is an emerging Canadian artist branded under the alias 'kinqed'. Her preferred medium is digital art and acrylic painting, often depicting the majesty, beauty and mystery behind fictional and non-fictional characters. She creates her work to be a mixture of surreal, fantasy and realistic elements- in which is to convey the raw, beastly and confusing emotions and thoughts present behind her work.
She started drawing horses from a horse breed catalogue she was given from the Calgary Stampede, a large celebratory festival from her hometown. That interest in drawing led to aquiring her first graphics tablet in 2013, practicing her skills by selling small drawings online. During the final year of high school she created two large-scale paintings, one 4.5ftx5ft inspired by the movie 'The Last Unicorn' titled 'King Haggard's Bull". The second measures 7ftx5ft, depicting a tiger and a snake and remains in the library at her former high school Crescent Heights in Calgary. She has also been featured in the Alberta University of the Arts ShowOff! competition gallery twice.
Tam now attends Ryerson University in Toronto and hopes to work in the film and gaming industry as a conceptual illustrator.
